Sustainable Procurement through the Public and Private Sector Lens
February 21 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 amFree
This webinar continues GEC’s ongoing series exploring sustainable procurement through the public and private sector lenses. The webinar brings together professionals from the public and private sectors to share their unique sector-specific experience in advancing sustainable purchasing in their organizations and beyond. During this installment of the webinar series, Angela Shell, CPO for the State of California Department of General Services (DGS), and Yalmaz Siddiqui, VP of Corporate Sustainability for MGM Resorts (and Founding Chair of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council), will talk about sustainable procurement within and outside their organizations, and discuss how different motives and structures of authority unique to the public and private sector, inform their respective approaches to leadership.
Panelists will explore questions such as:
- What role does leadership play in promoting sustainability in your organization and what levers of power do you use to promote sustainability?
- Who are your stakeholders and how do you gain influence and buy-in for sustainability?
- How do you motivate and inspire? How might tactics change based on your stakeholder group?
- What can you learn from one another?
Panelists will provide a presentation describing approaches to sustainable procurement in their organization and beyond, which will be followed by a facilitated discussion about how leadership informs a successful sustainable procurement program. The session will conclude with a Q&A from audience.
