Permaculture for Educators

July 22 – 28
Jean’s Farm in SE Portland

Permaculture for Educators is a 6-day training that Matt Bibeau and his team will be teaching at Jean’s Farm, an urban educational facility. As a garden educator who found incredible richness and benefits in this work through permaculture, Matt has dedicated close to 10-years finding ways that permaculture can apply specifically to educators of youth & children.

This course is a professional and personal development opportunity designed for teachers, mentors, and educators of children ranging in age from early childhood to high school who want to explore how education reform intersects with environmental & social movements. Through learning about permaculture ethics, principles and methods as they relate to school, classroom, community, curriculum and teaching design, this course illuminates ways that permaculture can be applied to all aspects of teaching and weaves best practices of both implicit and explicit methods as essential elements of your teaching design.

The Institute of Permaculture Education for Children (IPEC) website has all of the enrollment information and a more detailed training description. We’ve also collaborated with Portland Community College to offer this 36-hour training for CEC’s/PD’s. If you have any questions, please email:
