Portland Community College economics instructor and GPSEN Sustainability Leadership award-winner, Joel Magnuson, will build on his 2017 GPSEN Symposium speech by discussing his recent book “From Greed to Wellbeing: A Buddhist approach to resolving our economic and financial crises.” The book inspired South African Artist James Reed, member of local Co-op Gallery 114 and GPSEN’s Think Tank facilitator. The exhibition entitled ‘Ascen-tials’ expands – visually – on key issues underpinning Magnuson’s book, in addition to works by Henri Bortoft, who wrote “The Wholeness of Nature–Goethe’s Way of Science.”
Reed is a new member to Gallery 114 and this body of work is in the context of the current group exhibition of all the members of the gallery entitled ‘ Dwelling in Possibilities’. The exhibit will open on July 5 and run through July 28.
